The Kornegay's Story
Belly Dance and Belly Laughs is a fundraiser to benefit the Kornegay family: Cheryl and Cutler and their two children aged 6 and 8. Cutler Kornegay is 26, has brain cancer, and will be undergoing radiation treatment for 6 1/2 weeks and chemotherapy for a year at Duke hospital. On February 1, 2009 he had brain surgery at Duke and was found to have grade three anaplastic astrocytoma. Fortunatly, Cutler's doctors believe that his condition is treatable. He has suffered some side effects that effect his daily living and is currently unable to work. Cheryl is a student and belly dancer and is dedicating her time to meeting the daily needs and care of her husband and children.
Cheryl and Cutler are extremely grateful for and touched by the support and kindness that they have recieved. They have decided that all funds raised on their behalf will go into a separate account and will only be used sparingly to help with medical costs and living expenses as Cutler undergoes treatment. Funds that are not needed to cover medical expenses or direct living expenses will be contributed to help others who find themselves in a similar situation. A donation will be made in the future to Mission4Marueen, an organization that aids brain cancer patients in financial distress by providing relief for utility costs, rent or mortgage, insurance premiums, expenses to get to treatments, etc.
